ELD Mandate 101 - What is the ELD Rest Break ?

With the US ELD mandate fast approaching and starting live on Dec 18 2017, here is Zed Connect's next installment our our ELD Mandate 101 training:

The HOS regulations require that if more than 8 consecutive hours of driving have passed since the last off duty break of 30 minutes or more, a driver must take a break of at least 30 minutes before driving again. The 30 minute rest break provision does not apply for short haul drivers (100 air mile radius) of their work reporting location. The 30 minute rest break provision does not apply to non-CDL drivers who operate within a 150 air mile of their work reporting location
